Loneliness Awareness Week 2026

It’s Loneliness Awareness Week!

Did you know that 1 in 2 people living in Australia experience loneliness and/or social isolation? It’s one of the most common human experiences, yet one of the least talked about.

The good news is that our communities are full of people who help others feel welcome. Whether it’s saying hello to someone new, joining a group activity, or simply sharing a smile, small moments of connection can make a big difference.

This Loneliness Awareness Week (3 – 9 August), Ending Loneliness Together is encouraging everyone to make room for connection at home, work, school and in the community.

At our centre, we’re proud to be a place where people can connect through health, wellbeing and recreation. Whether you’re a regular or a new visitor taking part in a program or activity, or simply stopping by for a chat, every visit is an opportunity to build meaningful connections.

Here are a few simple ways you can get involved this week:

  • Say hello to someone new at the centre.
  • Invite a friend or family member to join you for a workout or swim.
  • Join a group fitness class or community program.
  • Check in with someone you haven’t spoken to in a while.

Together, we can help make our community a little less lonely.
